Batik. This centuries-old craft has its roots on the island of Java in Indonesia. The original Batik process aims to create paterns representing social and natural phenomena on different types of textile by repeatedly applying wax and dyes. Historically made for the upper class, Batik fabric has been democratized thanks to the implementation of new production processes, such as stamping. These fabrics are now worn every Friday in some parts of the country and are also part of traditional celebration outfits.

I fell in love with this technique and its colorful patterns when I was a child visiting my family living in Jakarta. It definitely shaped the way I dress, as well as my interest in arts and craftsmanship. After discovering the Batik Museum in Solo in 2017, I started creating bespoke Batik outfits for myself and later on for my friends during summer 2022.

I am now delighted to share this cultural heritage with you.
